Paige and Kjell brought plenty of color, beautiful flowers, and a crowd that was more than ready to celebrate. Their outdoor ceremony looked fantastic against the old walls, and the indoor reception had a completely different atmosphere.

As a photographer, I love that drama, that contrast. The textures of the old building, the open sky above the courtyard, and the darker, more intimate interiors give me so much to work with. And if you want to venture out for portraits, downtown Hood River and the Columbia River Gorge are right there. A fantastic venue for couples who want something with a very distinct personality.

The Ruins is one of my favorite wedding venues in Hood River, and Paige and Kjell's wedding is a pretty good explanation of why.

It's a former pear cannery, with these incredible old walls, weathered textures, and an open courtyard that feels completely different from the usual garden or vineyard wedding venue. The place has so much character already, you really don't need to do much to it.
