Kaylie & Nello at Nordic NW in Portland, OR
Kaylie and Nello had two priorities for their wedding: dramatic florals and, even more importantly, a proper PARTY. Deep reds, burgundy flowers, rich chocolate tones, and a dance floor that got plenty of use. They clearly cared about making everything beautiful, but having an incredible time with their people came first.
Their venue, Nordic Northwest (also known as Nordia House), is a fantastic choice for a Portland wedding, especially if you love the combination of modern architecture and nature. The building itself is bright and contemporary, with warm wood, high ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Step outside and you're surrounded by wooded paths, a meadow, and beautiful greenery. It's a surprising amount of variety in one location.
As a wedding photographer, that's one of my favorite things about Nordic Northwest. We can move from editorial portraits against the clean lines of the building to something completely different among the trees, all without disappearing for an hour. And the greenery makes a particularly good backdrop for bold floral arrangements like Kaylie and Nello's.
Another excellent reason to choose this venue is the food. Weddings at Nordia House are catered by Broder Söder, known for its Nordic-inspired cooking, seasonal menus, and local ingredients. The food is genuinely phenomenal and deserves as much attention as the setting. The Great Hall is also particularly well suited to a wedding where the reception is a priority. It's spacious, full of natural light during dinner, and has plenty of room for dancing once the evening gets going.
And these two really did make the most of that dance floor. The photographs probably explain that part better than I could.
